Born from witnessing the devastating impact of domicide—the destruction of homes—Materealized responds to the deep loss experienced by those displaced by conflicts, especially in the Middle East. Countless individuals are forced to abandon not just their houses but the memories and identities tied to them.

Using generative AI, Materealized reconstructs these fragmented memories into immersive visual experiences. By transforming personal recollections, it offers a space where displaced individuals can reconnect with pieces of their past that war and displacement have threatened to erase.

‍Voice-Activated Visualization: Participants share their personal stories via voice input. As they speak, the system generates images in real-time, transforming their words into visual narratives. This allows them to see their memories unfold visually, bridging internal recollection with external expression.

Body Interaction: Viewers manipulate the images using their body movements. As they move within the installation space, the visuals respond accordingly. This interaction illustrates how our memories are influenced by those we share them with, emphasizing that memories are communal and interconnected.

Moving forward, we aspire to collect more stories from individuals, building a rich library of memories that preserves and immortalizes personal and cultural narratives. By gathering a diverse array of experiences, we aim to create a shared archive that not only honors these stories but also allows others to connect with their heritage through the reflections of fellow participants.
